Weekend Warrior

I have been marathon training for over a year now. Almost every Saturday morning of 2006 brought with it a long training run at 5 or 6am. So what did I decide to do with only 3 weeks left until my final marathon of 2006? Ppppaaarrttyy! To the chagrin of my running buddy Heather I neglected to complete my 15 mile training run on the 18th or 19th. Instead I headed out to drink and dance with friends on Friday and Saturday night.

On Friday night Adrienne and I had some happy hour drinks at Dos Gringos in Tempe. It was a rather interesting crowd...we'll leave it at that. Later that night my friend Chris and his friend Assar picked me up. The three of us wandered to multiple locations in Old Town but ended up at Suede. It was a great night out on the town with a couple of guys who know how to have fun.

Saturday consisted of trying to recuperate before class which lasted from 1-5pm. I cannot wait to be finished with my MBA!! Only two more classes and a 100 page thesis to go. Once class was over I attempted to take a nap which was futile. I was up again getting ready to hit the town with my ladies, Lori and Jenni. The three of us met up with another guy friend of mine, Casey and his friend Nick. The best part of the night however was running into a friend from my sorority days, Julia. Julia and I had a great time in Cancun during one of my spring break trips in college. I can't really divulge more than that without self-incriminating information but maybe I can dig deep into my photo albums for a pic to put up. The funny thing is that Julia was not the only person I ran in to from my past. My mom's friend Elan was there as well and I got to see some pics of his little girl. I don't know about all of you but whenever I see pictures of my friend's children it is a reminder of how fast time goes by. The key statement of the night came from my friend Lori. As we were leaving the bar a guy stopped me to ask for my number. Lori grabbed my arm and at the same time said to the guy, "She is drunk and even if she gave you her number she wouldn't return your call!" Ah Lori, you gotta lover her.

Sunday I picked up my tri-bike and headed to the Cardinals game with Jenni. What a phenomenal day! The Cardinals actually won and I got my new bike :-) Unfortunately, it was hard enjoying these moments with the severe lack of sleep and hangover I had going on. I welcome the relaxing four day weekend ahead. Tonight Izzy, Kevin and I fly to Utah for some family fun. I can't wait to see what happens next...
